Debate Issue 1: Should the private education be banned in South Korea?
Private education is now so common in our daily lives. 68.8% of Korean students are either taking private lessons or attending private academies. Statistics show that most of the students are having high dependence on the private education. But recently negative impacts of the private education are being magnified. Experts claim that students are suffering from the fatigue and stress due to the tight schedule and great deal of homework. Affected by the tiredness, students' concentration level during the school hours is drastically decreased which is becoming a serious issue in the society. Also, private education is giving a huge financial burden to the middle income families. According to the National Statistical Office of South Korea, in 2015, 17.8 trillion Korean Won was spent for the private education. Considering the negative effects of the private education on both students and families, do you think it should be banned in South Korea?
Pro: Yes. Private education should be banned (Team A)

Debate Issue 2: Should the special purpose high school be abolished in South Korea?

- Foreign Language High School(외고)
:To produce outstanding individuals in foreign language field
- Global High School(국제고)
:To produce outstanding individuals in specialized international field
Special purpose high school is a type of high school created to provide specialized teaching in specific fields. But recently, these schools are gaining criticism from the public that they focus on sending students to prestigious universities(SKY) more than its actual purpose. Also a lot of parents are worried that these high schools are causing the increase in participation of students in private education. Do you think special purpose high school should be abolished in South Korea?
